A true river trail through the impressive landscapes of the Eifel. On this 1-day Packraft Trail, you combine challenging hikes with packrafting on the Rur.
You’ll make your way through forests and over hills, passing viewpoints and historic sites such as Hengebach Castle near Heimbach. Then it’s time to get on the water and paddle along the Rur, through river bends, past forested banks and beneath old bridges.
A varied day where you experience the Eifel from both the trails and the water. No paddling on a still lake, but packrafting on a real river.

Your adventure begins with a challenging hike through the forests and hills of the Eifel. Along the way, you’ll enjoy impressive views and discover the beautiful landscapes of the Rureifel.
Then you reach the Rur, where the second part of your adventure begins. Get into your packraft and paddle downstream along the river, passing green riverbanks, peaceful bends and the characteristic landscapes of the Eifel.
After packrafting, you continue hiking towards Heimbach. Along the way, you can admire impressive sights such as Hengebach Castle, towering above the town of Heimbach.

Overnight stay at Base Camp Dillingen
A packraft adventure begins and ends in a place where nature and comfort come together: Base Camp Dillingen. This atmospheric campsite, located directly by the water, is the perfect base for your adventure. You don’t need to bring anything yourself — rent a fully equipped tent that will be ready for you upon arrival. Everything is provided: a comfortable mattress, warm sleeping bag, pillow, small table, reclining chairs and a light for the evening.
